Sorting through mountains of apps

Browsing apps is pretty frustrating now.

With 500,000 apps in the app store, old fashioned, simple, one-size-fits-all browsing techniques are not really good enough. The categorization and search-string filter system is way too primitive. Apple is going to have to do something to keep up with that scale.

Microsoft is up to 30,000 apps [...]

Steve Jobs’ Thoughts on Flash – No Confidence in Adobe

“Flash isn’t necessary” – Apple

The avalanche of media outlets offering their content for Apple’s mobile devices demonstrates that Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content. And the 200,000 apps on Apple’s App Store proves that Flash isn’t necessary for tens of thousands of developers to [...]

There’s now a page that lets users search either by title, author, keyword, or category. It also lists some of the New York Times [...]

iTunes

Guy Proposes on Apple Store Web Cam

Apple just opened a brand new Apple store on 5th Avenue in New York.  The only part of the store that is visible at street level is a cool glass cube.  The store never closes… which sounds cool until you remember that 7-11 has been doing that in neighborhoods around the country for decades.

Quicktime – Apple Continues to Be Annoying

So Mike sends me a funny YTMND link and I go to look at it. YTMND says I need to download a “Missing Plug-in”.  I check it out and it’s Quicktime.  Damn I hate Quicktime.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve downloaded and ultimately deleted Quicktime.  Why does every big software company [...]
