1-year TracFone card
Lately I’ve been thinking about how I use TracFone. I always seem to be reloading my phone at the last minute every 3 months. I normally hunt around for promo codes and hope to find something good. Usually I’ll find a code that offers 30 to 60 bonus minutes on a 60-minute ($20) card. Let’s do some math:
Four 60-minute cards ($80 total) will get me service for 1 year and about 600 minutes assuming I find some good codes. This includes the stress of reloading my phone every 3 months.
Why don’t I simply purchase a 1-year card with 400 minutes? My current phone has Double Minutes for Life (DMFL), so I should receive 800 minutes on the 1-year card, which already puts me ahead. On top of that, you can tack on at least 250 bonus minutes from using a code!
What the heck have I been thinking all this time? Next time I reload, I’m going to go the 1-year route for sure.

Depends.
If it’s a hassle to top off every 3 months, then the 1 year deal is for you.
It also depends on your cash flow.
But that’s the great thing about TracFone; you have flexibility — and choices.
