    I love my magic jack phone. I just returned from Nicaragua where I used to communicate with US. Upon returning and connecting my phone it ask for email and password. Iput in my email and password but it says it is an error and won’t let me go any futher or use the phone.

    On march 20, the online chat “help” promised to refund my credit card within a week–it has been over 3 weeks I am still waiting! My call to customer service has not been answered even when I was told I was first in line after 20 minutes wait. This is is bad business practice. Please refund my $50.

  • Had the original mmagic jack but it got destroyed by a new puppy. Purchased a new magic jack along with the years subscription. The original MJ had 1 month left, customer support said I could keep the same # which I agreed to. 1 month later MJ subscri[tion ran out and MJ stopped working, Customer support said the subscription ran out and I need to purchase it all over again the smart people could not put 2 and 1 and get 3.
    customer service is useless and only know what they attempt to read from their basic answer books.

    WTF !!!! I got a Magic Jack to sane on a new business start up from my home so I can save my cell phone minutes. I got the Magic Jack to work but one of the outlook features I could not get to download. So I brought up Internet Explorer and goggled their web page and when I went to connect to the customer service site I get a time out and a connection error. I look for a phone number to call and all I can find is that they have their customer service on line. Well is would be nice to be able to connect to their web site to get to a customer service person. This is the second day I have had Magic Jack and it is working, Hope they get better customer service soon and make their web site problems fixed. I know it is not me because I can go to any other web page but theirs. http://www.magicjack.com has not worked on my computer for the last 2 days.

    I bought the MJ last year and used it with great success on my vacation in the bahamas( I rec the abacos just go to “the abaconian” for info)I used it a month ago to make a call and it was working. now it dosen’t recognize my email ,password id good and the people at Tech support seem to be playing dumb. But maybe it’s not an act. I’m calling Clark Howard you should do the same

    well i love my magic jack ive had it over a year….but thats now why im writing here.i have a friend with a 276 number his mom has a 276 number..and she says its long distance.i was like HUH and WTF!!..so..we called magic jack and they said the second part of his number 880 and her number 236 its long distance.ive never heard of such crap.thats like sayin.215 cant call 215.and i called customer support..they said oh this is only billing.so i said i am NOT goin thru the website.so the guy who i barely understood gave me a tech support number.which i will share with you here,281-404-1554.and the lady was more then helpful.also if anyone needs magic jack help im on yahoo as lxxlsuicidelxxl@yahoo.com or aol as bod666bod@aol.com feel free to pm me or email me

      thanks rick after searching for days upon end and finding mostly disgusted magic jack owners with the same problem you were the only real phone number i found. maybe you should sell it as magic phone number .com maybe $19.95

Now my next question is my internet provider is going to be cancelled in about three days (8/07/09) and my new provider will not be able to start until 8\13/09 what is going to happen with magic jack in does day that i don’t have internet.     Hi GEORGE, you cannot turn off your voicemail with magicjack. Once your magicjack is unplugged or your computer is off, automatically all your calls will be forwarded to your voicemail.

    For TOM GIBBONS, SIR you can use the magicjack to any computers as long as it has windows XP or windows Vista operating system, you just have to plug it and you can start using it.Just make sure its already registered cuz if not of course you need to register it first. yOU Can use it anywhere in the world, as long youve got Windows XP or Vista OS and high internet speed.

    i have a magic jack that worked for a month-then stopped-i spent 3 days online doing the same things over and over-hours of my time. finally i was told i needed to order a new one that a refund email would be sent and i would follow instructions send old one back and get refund.

    well the email i get was thanks for purchasing magic jack not a word about refund and sending the old one back.

    i am not happy still!

    One thing I hate there is nothing there on magic jack web site where if you already have the device plugged in, it doesn’t tell you how to pay for it. Just shows you have to buy the item and how much per year. I hope the support number you have here works cause I am going to call so I can pay the yearly amount. Also going to complain to them about the matter about how can one pay for the yearly amount if you already bought the device that you put in your pc. Its really fustrating that they don’t have any info on this and stupid on their part on not putting that info on their site.

    I can hear perfictly when i call someone.But when i talk they say im breaking up pretty bad.Also i have to keep on reinstalling it on my computer because it stops working. i can tell because when i call someone it gives me three buisy signals and stops i checked this out by calling my voicemail and it doese the same thing but not all the time.Can you please help me is there somewhere i can take it to have it checked out.

    I purchased magic jack a month ago and I can make calls from the magic jack phone but I tried calling the other day from my cell to the magic jack phone and i get a message: “The number you have dialed is not in service.”? I’ve been online chatting with the tech support people and nothing works? But I can still call out? Anyone have any suggestions?

    I don’t recomend this to anyone. I bought all new paperwork for my business including cards letterheads etc with the MJ phone number on them. They are all garbage now. I have to replace all my stuff because of MJ. Uninstall it or better yet DON’T BUY IT!!!!! It’s CRAP!!!

    Firstly thanks a lot for your invention. It has revolutionalized VoIP. I am myself a VoIP engineer and have worked in the field of Telecommunications for a few years now.

    Also, travel a lot and use your device for personal communications. This has really made a lot of different in my connectivity and mobility.

    I cannot thank you enough.

    I believe I have used your service for around 20months to 2 years. And I signed a 5 year deal at the end of my first year. However, as good as your invention has been, off late I have seen a sharp dive in the service. I guess with the hype magic jack has created, there has been a flood of customers may be a couple of dozens thanks to me. I am guessing you are in the process of upgrading your systems fair enough, I hope you soon fix your audio quality issues. Past few months I have not be able to use the device because of a broken storage error, rest assured a lot of people have seen this already.

    Also, if I may I would like to take this opportunity to ask you about your investment strategy and future road map for magicJack. What do you really do with all that money? An investment advice please :) .

    I am guessing some may go back into probably buying a great yatch? Some into real estate? And I am guessing you invest some back in the business. I am sure you have invested into upgrading the systems. However, if I may, I would like to suggest investing some in training the support staff.

    They are lovely folks and I am sure they have pleasured a lot. However, I have been they whipping boy. :(

    Jeeze Ronnie,
    It may not be obvious to you but you were the victim of A/I (artificial intelligence). You don’t really believe that all those “live chat” buttons you push actually have a real person sitting at a keyboard do you? Not hardly. If you don’t believe me pick anyone of them and ask a nonsensical question with a “keyword” from one of their products, a question that a real human would know was just messing with them. It will try to give a serious answer. REAL tech support isn’t hardly available anymore. My answer Darwinism. If you want to use technology, better get tech savvy. Survival of the fittest. It won’t be long until you will need to have better skills and knowledge of yesterdays techies just to use the technology of the future. Become your own goto guy. Just my two cents.

    • Just for kicks, I went to the Magic Jack website and clicked to “chat with a live agent”. I typed in a nonsense sentence with a few key words and received a bot-like reply. I was asked what kind of internet connection I was using. I responded with, “my car has a cable in it.” “Please clarify that”, was the response.

      So I said, “cranes use a cable to lift things”. At this, it seemed like I *was* talking to a live person because they were confused by that. A bot would have picked up the key word “cable” and then responded with a cable modem answer. They didn’t. They asked me to stop fooling around and ask a question about Magic Jack.

      My verdict is that I was talking to a real person.

    TO respond to a few posts I saw here, just because you area code is the same as another, doesn’t mean the prefix is still a local call.

    Second, you are better off seeking help from online sites that have users that have encountered just about every issue so far then you are contacting customer support. Any user of modern electronics should know this by now. Phone support is a thing of the past. Too many people that have no clue how to troubleshoot use them, so its all dumbed down to accomodate them.

    I purchased the magic jack about seven weeks ago. We have been gone for 6+ weeks and on my return the magicjack was here. We are leaving tomorrow and will not be back until the 17th of September. Is there any way I can start my 30 day free trial perion then?

    In my opinion Magic Jack has some of the worst customer service i have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. I purchased it with the understanding that they now serviced canada. However, what they dont tell you and is never explained during the order process, it isnt possible to get Canadian area codes so Magic Jack expects your friends, family and customers to call long distance every time they call you. ANyway, I sent my unit back to the Canadian distributor within the free trial period and for some reason it was sent right back to me. Now Canada Post is demanding $11 from me just so i can send it back to Magic Jack again. When i contact the chat support folks, i get different instructions as to where i should have returned it and now they are saying it was returned because Canada Post delivered it to the wrong address. To make a long story short, they are absolutely destroying any good will they could have gained from me over $11. To me that says they are a fly by night operation who want to make a lot of money quickly by selling subscriptions and then fold. I’ve heard they are already doing away with customer support by phone and only offer support by online chat (to India no doubt). Anyway, i would proceed with extreme caution with this company. Or better yet look at other options like Skype or Google Talk who offer the same functionality and are much more reputable companies.

    Plugged my new magic jack into my computer and within 5 minutes the computer crashed. Could not restart. 3 hours later I tried again and it started. Crashed again for good. Had to pay $80 to fix computer.

    i can’t let the jack work, they said i have successfully register the jack but I didn’t get to enter for how long i will be using it, the 19.99 i think where you typed in credit card details, so now they gave me a number but on the main screen where you dial on top of it the number says 000-000-0000 but when log in in to verify email they gave me a number but I can’t make or receive a call
