For as long as I can remember, the LEGO BrickMaster subscription package came with a complimentary ticket to Legoland California. And for as long as I remember, that ticket has been completely worthless to me, considering I live on the East Coast. It never even dawned on me to sell it on eBay. I could have gotten at least $30 for it. Sheesh.
But anyway… so it turns out that we are going out to California in a few weeks and will actually have a chance to go to Legoland! Admission for a child is $55. Adults are $65. Wow, that’s a lot of money! Thinking of ways to save money, I remembered that the BrickMaster subscription comes with a free ticket!
For those who don’t know, BrickMaster is a LEGO program that costs $40. You subscribe for 1 year and every two months they send you the LEGO Club magazine, an exclusive (but small) LEGO set, a couple of coupons, and a free ticket to Legoland. The sets alone are worth the $40 considering you can’t buy them anywhere other than eBay.
So, thinking I found an awesome deal, I went onto the LEGO Shop at Home website and ordered two BrickMaster subscriptions. Only after they shipped did I notice that the invoice mentioned nothing about the Legoland ticket. About 2 months ago, I ordered a BrickMaster subscription for my son and we DID receive a ticket. So I figured the same would happen again.
UGH! Turns out I’m wrong. I just went onto the LEGO Shop at Home website and read the description of the BrickMaster subscription. It says that it comes with:
A coupon good for FREE admission to LEGOLAND® California or LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Illinois with one paid adult admission.
Ugh! A coupon? And it looks like we were just a little too late. It looks as though they are in the midst of changing the program, because the default image of the product on the site looks like this:

Notice the coupon in the upper left hand corner
But if you click the “More Views” link, which enlarges the image, you get this…

Notice the upper left hand corner now - it says Complimentary Ticket!
Dammit! I wonder if I can call customer service and get them to give me a ticket on this technicality. It’s worth a difference of $65 to me. Hmmm…

Not sure what this has to do with LEGOs, but okay…
