Donald just submitted this Magic Jack “customer service” chat log to Ooine.com as a comment to my How to Uninstall Magic Jack post. It’s so lengthy and interesting that it deserves its own post.
After reading through the chat log, I can’t say that I side 100% with Donald. I understand his points, but he is clearly expecting too much from a chat conversation. It’s not like she had the authority to say, “You know what? You’re right, I’ll just go ahead and re-write company policy and implement it right now. I’ll call our ad agency and have them remove our commercial from the air immediately. Thank you for calling my attention to this sir, you are the first I’ve heard this from.”
Expecting a customer service agent on a chat line to respond satisfactorily to Donald’s level of complaint is remarkably far fetched. That being said, he does have valid complaints about the company, so I’ll go ahead and post the log.

I have used Magic Jack for 1 year and contacted Customer Service Chat Log twice for assistance. My needs were taken care of in a courteous manner and I was well pleased with Magic Jack Customer Service.
I have to disagree with Donald. I have seen the comercials, and they do clearly state the cost of the Magic Jack device, with a renewal of $19.95 per year. I don’t know what Donald was seeing (I assume he was seeing what he wanted to see). My girlfriend bought the Magic Jack (fully knowing the cost from TV). It was highly unstable at first. It seems to have gotten a lot better since she first got it. She has had it for nearly two years now. As long as you don’t mind depending on your computer to handle you phone, then I suppose it’s the cheapest rout one can take. I do know that if you are downloading large files, or watching video, etc. where your bandwidth is maxed, your phone calls will be highly compromised. They will be vey choppy, and can’t understand what the person is saying, or the call will get dropped all together. Call me old fashioned, but I personaly will stick to my classic telephone service from the phone company. At least I know it will work, and work well when I pickup the hand set.

Daniel Borislow, founder of MagicJack, is the same fella that helped to found a company (Tel-Save)that he putatively stripped, robbed, and got fired when its value dropped to one-ninth its top value.
Anyone who buys from a company that has no address, no email, no contact names, may well deserve the euchring they are sure to receive. All it takes is for folks like you to keep posting messages and/or web pages advising the world that MagicJack is a scam. Say it enough times and their primary targets for victimization (people of lesser economic means) will wake up that much faster.
Personally, I wish to thank you all for posting. My friend bought a pair of these today from Radio Shack, and, thanks to the Cydoor spyware and so many helpful posts, we already returned them. Again, thank you all

MagicJack is just another money–grabbing company that promotes a “30 day money back guarantee ” product that is designed to accomplish a single goal. That goal is to get your credit card number.
The MagicJack I purchased did not function. I also purchased for $69.95 the extra 5 year plan. But all my clients said the sound quality was horrible!
The web site is a joke. There is a bunch of instant fix downloads (that don’t work). There is however, a great deal of hype about the amazing thirty-day no-risk guaranty. What is MAGICALLY missing is any way to contact this company to arrange to return the product and cancel the scheduled payment at the end of the thirty-day trial period.
There is a live-chat customer support line. I wasted 90 minutes of my life there, with no solution at all. This is exactly what you can expect from a predatory rip-off company such as this.
My unit never worked properly. I intend to dispute this charge with my credit card company. They do this regardless of the nature or character of the predator.

This is one of the most hilarious bad customer service blogs I’ve read recently… Surely these folks also paid for magazine subscriptions sold door-to-door by traveling teens with a generic blank receipt book. Your call from MJ customer support will probably come through when your magazine does!?!
I know! I hear you. There is some sad stuff here. We constantly get comments on this single post all the time. I fear that it’s mostly from non-English speaking folks who just have no idea that this site is not an official Magic Jack site. We we could help them, but there’s just no way. Occasionally though, we do get a helpful reader attempting to actually answer questions… which is very nice of them.
When I turn on my computer each morning and majic jack completes loading, it indicates that my subscription is about to expire. I purchased three (3) MJ when in Huntsville, AL on a infomercial in November 2009 and opted for the two year plan.
