You just watched Aliens, what are those lights in the sky?
It turns out that when you take 15 years of UFO and alien reports and stick them on a chronological timeline, the number of reports spike after major media events prominently featuring aliens and UFOs. 1978 was a big year because that’s when Close Encounters of the Third Kind was released. 1996 was another big year due to Independence Day (ugh). There are also spikes associated with Dr. Who and the X-Files.
Just another notch in the tree of human susceptibility to suggestion.

Oh, and by the way. Please remember that UFO stands for “Unidentified Flying Object”. It doesn’t stand for “Alien Spacecraft”.
I fully believe that there is life in the universe outside of planet Earth… in fact the math DEMANDS it. However, to date, no unidentified flying object has EVER been shown beyond a reasonable doubt to have anything other than earthly origins or other natural or man-made causes.

And the largest spike came during the 80′s to date after multitudes of alien oriented movies and let us not forget the increased ability to surf the internet, which is why the spikes anyway.
Well it just goes to show the media would rather talk about this kind of sighting then the real one taking place in China. Just regrettably stumbled through this short and uninformative article. Bummer….look at china ufo mass sighting please.
It’s merely a heads-up to the full article over at Breitbart. The point of this is that human beings are incredible susceptible to suggestion, hence the spike in UFO reports after media events. You appear to be one of the susceptible masses.
