Past Visions of the Future

What did the year 1999 look like to people in the 1960s and earlier?  Check out these revealing videos.  It’s amazing how 1999 looked so much like 1965. 

AT&T’s vision of the future was close, but just a little bit off. People don’t send “faxes” from the beach, but they do send emails and text messages. I remember this series of commercials, by the way.

Here’s a 1930′s vision of what they thought women would be wearing 9 years ago. Yikes.

What would air transportation be like in the future? Braniff thought it knew. Why do a lot of 1960s and 70s visions of the future have us sitting in egg seats? This seems to be a reoccurring theme.
