      We installed magicjack on a new computer HP windows 7 edition when we phone out on the MJ the call goes thru but we hear dial tone and “please hang up and dial number again”. It is impossible to have any sort of conversation due to interference!!! ANYBODY else experience this!!!! Need to know as we are ready to return.

      My MJ went out on me too, I have been online with support for 8 hours..4 hours last weekend and 4 hours this weekend. They keep putting me through the same gruelling tests, and upgrading, deleting..etc etc…the same tests, but different people. It’s awful..I’ve loved my service up until it broke, because Customer Service sucks and there is no resolution but to buy another one…..I guess???

    I’m trying to prepaid international minutes for my magicjack phone number.
    The system is down for last 2 days and I got a live person calling Tech Support(281) 404-1551 – to get NO Help!
    I loved MagicJack for last 2 years, however now I have to change my telephone company and give my business to someone else.
    I hope that the guru of magicjack is reading these messages and do something to fix the problem.

    Here is a copy of my interaction with their support staff! All I wanted to know is…where can I buy it in Mexico and what are the rates for calling from a land line or cell phone with their international calling rates. About 40 minutes wasted and no closer to an answer. Notice the response at the end…I am not in Texas!

    • Plug your magicjack in. It will do an update. If this is the first time you use it, you will have to put in required information. Once the telephone pad comes on your screen and says ready to use. Use another phone to call your magicjack phone. If you use your magicjack phone to call your magicjack phone, your call will cancel it self out or you will receive a busy signal.

      You might have to unblock your pop ups because chat is poped up into another window.

      Hi-

      You can get only local phone numbers for US and Canada; it won’t help you to call anywhere else. You’d have to pay for international minutes. Example: if we send one to my brother’s family in Germany it will have a local area code (ours here in Calif.) The computer will read this as if those in Germany are here in California. So if you were to call your next-door neighbor in your country it would be considered an international call.

      It does mae it helpful for those in the US and Canada when they travel, since they are in essence bringing their local phone with them and so, for example, if they want to call back to the US, it is free because they are using a US local number.

    I bought Magic Jack the 2 dongles with the premium package that should have been a 5 year contract at the tune of $200. I can’t use my Magic Jack because they cut my service off and there is no phone number or chat that I can actually talk to a customer service department to fix my problem. My FAX machine had problems using the program provided through Magic Jack and never did rectified. In my opinion The Magic Jack is long on promises and short on action on fixing customer issues

    My magicjack worked great almost 2 years. Just moved computer to another location and cannot get magicjack to work on phone. Works fine on internet. I think the problem is that there is a choice between headset and telephone and the green dot is on headset and I cannot get it to change to telephone. Anyone have any ideas to help me, please.       i am having the same problem,can not switch to telephone.
      i use this between two computers,it works fine on one but have the same trouble you are having on the other,can not switch from headset to telephone.
      when i ask there online help they send me pictures of how to switch back and forth between the two. i am not stupid i know how to do that. it just will not let you highlight the telephone.
      if they had an actual live chat person to send you a reply how many people would they have to employ? your questions are answered by a computer thats why you get an instant reply and why you can not get specific questions answerd that would actualy fix your specific proublem.
      answering my own question about how many they would have to employ, hundreds, and you would still be on hold for ever

    I was on line with them for almost 3 hour trying to get my MJ to work and after I asked how much longer it was going to take becauce I am a dibetic and needed to eat she (Diana)end my chat.     I purchased 2 years. Svc was cut after 1 year ends. Now, finding out how much trouble it is to get a real person. They do have one phone # for real people which starts at 11 am. What kind of service is that for a business that claims to sell a unit every few seconds? You think they would have round the clock service.

    • As far as I can tell, poor customer service was part of MJ’s business plan from the start. It can certainly work for them… and it has! However, it would seem that this has long term ramifications for future products. Though, they can always just change their company name to keep the public guessing.

    Used magic jack for 1 year. Paid for 2 years when I bought it, but they cut service after 1 year. I renewed any way, but now I cant get it to work again. I get this message, (Warning! Must be plugged into USB” Dah!!! I cant get any sense out of the onsite counslers. There are no phones that a person actually answer. Even if you order a new one, you will never talk to a real person. I am getting sick and tired of seeing the commercial with the two dogs. I will try Radio Shack and if I cant get results, I will have my credit card to issue a refund. Just think of all the millions, if not billions that this man is making on his magic crap jack. If he would spend maybe 20% of that on servicing his customers, he could continue to grow his money, but I guess he isnt very business smart.

    I was not happy with the (2)magicjacks with 5 year subscription each so I returned both with the time frame and received an email confirming that they have received and that I will be refunded. Hitherto, after good two weeks, I have not received my refund. I have tried sending them emails all have returned as not deliverable.

    SOS MagicJack. I have also been attempting to renew my MagicJack at no avail. I have since I initially ordered MagicJack changed my DSL carrier therefore changing my email address and password. I can not get into my MagicJack account because you have old information on the account. I can’t get any help!!! Where is the Customer Services Support. I did find a site where you can offer to pay a Tech for his assistance. Why should I pay a tech only when I am simply trying to pay for a renewal. SOS – help!!!

  • I am having trouble with customer service getting back to me. I have had a problem with call forwarding for the last week. They say they are submiting the problems to the tech, but with no resolve as of yet. These techs must be from AOL past employees, all they keep doing is to run the update.exe which has nothing to do with there server which were the problem lies not on my computer or mj device.

    Wow, I am sorry for all the bad reviews on this wonderful product. I have had my magicjack for a few weeks and I love it, love it, love it. I am homebond and in the bed most of the time, with a headset and setting the majicjack on headset I can now handle all of my phone needs from the headset and not have to ever lift a phone receiver again, the only problem I am having is poor receiption on my International calling, the other person cannot hear me or barely hears me at all. Magicjack has come a long way and has a long way to go, for $20.00 a year I think some consideration and patience should be given this upstarting company, be Blessed

    I wonder why?

    Called to Customer care yesterday and it kept me on hold via voice message for good 30 min. nearing end of 30 min., it started giving wait time for another 30 min. I disconnected wondering what would happen after waiting for another 30 min. Criminal waste of time.

    My Daddy always said “if something seems too good to be true it probably is” and— “you get what you paid for—- ‘hopefully.’” This is a start-up and are probably operating from a set of values that is part ofn this new aged fabric that says “all is fair in love, war, business and anything else that goes. We are all aware of the b”buyer’s beware” slogan but I think we are still wanting to believe that pepople are basically good. They are— they just don’t thik it important to consider “you”; it is all about them and “being successful.”

    I’ll get off of my soapbox here and remain ever so sad as I remind myself—- this is a new day—– stay vigilant—-look out for yourself and keep love in your heart.

    Oh by the way—- I’ve had just about every one of the problems listed in your blog evn though I admitted to any real problems until the MJ stopped working altogether.     I’m tired of paying fifty dollars a month for a basic phone package. All of my relatives live out of state, and limits our conversations. MJ was & still is worth the “risk” to eliminate these ongoing, price increasing phone bills. I hate MJ’s service (if you can even call it that), but, I still think it is worth the $600 savings per year. I have had the MJ for several months, only paying for the cost of the unit at Wal-mart for about $40. I’ll wait until the end of the first year to re-new, even though I am very happy with the product (not the customer service). I would probably even buy a new unit yearly if I had to. I am a very frugal person with very limited income, & this kind of monthly savings gave me great satisfaction. I had no internet service before. Now I have internet & phone for $15 less a month, than I was paying for just phone service. This is working out great for me, for now. Sorry you all are having problems, sometimes, you got to take the good with the bad.

  • I paid for a 5 year subcripston and still waiting for a renewal code 2 extend my license but havent recieved it yet! Then I spent over a hour on the phone trying to get tech support on the phone it kept saying 7 min ten 4 min then 3 min then back to 7 minutes and i was on my cell phone so after 70 minutes of 4 minutes I just gave up!!!I would like to keep magic jack I’ve been happy with this service until now
