How long have you the service? After a year you have to renew the service. May be it’s the cause for the 0′s.
First, it took them 2 weeks to get my MJ to me. They sent tit to the wrong address twice though I informed them of the error first thing.
After finally getting it, the dongle worked for 2 days when in the middle of a call the unit failed.
I chatted with 4 different “techs”. The first 3 refered me to a “higher level” tech who each ran me through exactly the same song and dance. I was aggravated by the time I got to tech #4 and asked at what point they would come to terms with the fact that their cheap hardware had malfunctioned. She insisted I go through the same steps which involved changing my computer config settings (I wasn’t particularly thrilled about that. I finally said I’d had enough and closed the chat.
I couldn’t find the mystical uninstaller so I deleted all the MJ files. Fortunately I back up my registry daily so it was a simple matter to restore my registry to the day before I’d installed the MJ. Then I got the RMA and sent it back.
The idea of the MJ is great and with better customer service and better hardware, I think they could do well but for now they seem to operate like a typical fly-by-night outfit and I’m glad to be rid of them.
I would highly recommend that everyone do a registry backup before they install ANY new software. Even updates from respectable software companies can cause serious problems. They make mistakes too sometimes. You can save a lot of aggravation by having a known-good configuration handy. Just restore your registry and it’s as if it never happened.
I totally agree with joe. I have had so many problems with magicjack, My computer is brand new top of the line, i have been on the live chat more times than i can count, They always switch me to a higher level tech, even when i request management. They have you do the same thing over , and over and over, each and everytime, even if you try to tell them you have been through the same steps, They just dont care, Its like they have these steps on paper which they tell each customer to follow. Everytime they switch me to a higher level tech, i get the same song and dance. they always asure me the problem is fixed and so on and so on, and of course i continue to have the same problem over and over. i have been through the steps so many times i can do them with my eyes closed. The customer service is terrible. The live techs are not knowlegeable at all. My two year old daughter can read the step by step paperwork that the techs are looking off of, It is obvious they go step by step, because each and every tech has you do the same thing over and over, I so fed up with magicjac. it still does not work right and now i get the stupid magicjack pop up start menu all the time. I have been on the live chat for hours and then after a couple of calls, magicjack starts acting up again, and im back on the live chat talking to a tech that is completly clueless on how to fix the problem, the higher techs are no good either, they only tell you want you want to here. And also even when you are on the live tech chat, everytime they have to do a step and you do the step and tell them your done with that step. it takes minutes for them to respond back, and the reason for that is because they are online with many, many other customers at the same time which is totally unexceptable.They should only be concerned with one customer to fully give that customer the best service. I will not be renewing my magicjack once my time is up. i dont car if its only 19.95 a year or not, its not worth hours of being on line with techs evryday that are clueless on how to fix the problem for good.
Mistie, I had that problem in the begining, but I fixed it myself eventually. The problem was the type of phone I was using, so I tried different phone and finally I got it working, so far everything is fine. My year is up soon so I have to renew, but I will try to renew for 1 year ea. time. Hope this will work for you. God bless.

The suggestion to establish a RESTORE point in the operating system (assuming that you are running Microsoft Windows XP or later) is a good one to follow when installing anything new on your computer. Depending on the operating system, the pathway to establishing (or restoring) a set point varies slightly. In the interest of economy of typing, if you will provide what operating system you are using, then I will be happy to assist you with establishing / restoring set points for that operating system.

I am using Windows vista and now when I sign on to majic jack it is saying that windows not compatible. So when I try to connect to the internet it says no dail tone. My phone has a dail tone but I can not dail out and when I call the number it just goes to voicemail. Thanks

I have used MJ almost a year now and have had nothing but success with it until today. I lost all of my contacts and don’t know how to get them back. I COULD retype all of them back, but that would be kinda time consuming. Please does anybody know how to get my contacts back in the MENU? Oh yes, everything I see written about problems with MJ are with PC, and I use the Intel MAC. Thanks for any help available. Bob

Tech support is lost when it comes to chat and reading English. The outlook Add-in link from MJack program under menu simply wouldn’t install after even after several reboots and installs. Tech had no clue how to answer or solve this problem, and wouldn’t give out tech support phone no. like it was a big mystery. Bad customer support so far… maybe this is a sign, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. Likely goint back to my Vonage or ATT unlimited calling plan, and just when I was getting ready to write on blogs how great it was….
OH WERE TO START?:
1. The MJ tech supports HIS product.
2. Depending on how you count them, there are about 11 different versions of Windows which a computer could be running.
3. There are about 50+ motherboard manufactures.
4. Too many combinations to count are the chipsets, modems, NICs, Bios, Display cards, etc.
5. Firewalls, antivirus, antispyware, software.
But I grow weary; bottom line, the MJ works fine as designed. Yes, sometimes the system needs a little tweeking to make it run at top performance. Nevertheless, most people either smoke, drink, or eat fast food far in excess of the cost of the MJ each week.

After 10 chats to get my magic jack to work after months of excellence service it still doesn’t work! What do I do now?
I have tried to get reconnected to magic jack without success. Online reps. not able to find the problem, to reconnect my phone, though I let my number expire. I wasted several hours online. I had problems when I initially signed on to magic jack, it kept interferring with my computer at times, so that is why I did not renew it. My husband just wanted to give it another chance, but I there are people who do not have the experience in helping us that have less experience with computer knowledge, in order to instruct others on how to reconnect to their system

Hi, I would like to let u know a few things. I had problems with mj the sr technical team said that they have to replace the jack. Now i am out of the USA. I went ahead and bought a new mj. Had many problems. The sr technical team sent me an email saying it is my isp that is blocking the mu. I am a sr tech support person. I decided to try to fix the problem. Which i did in 4 hrs. Up to this time the Sr Technical at mj have no idea what i did or home to make this thing work. I have emails and chat saved form Sr Technical Support from mj. Can post them at any time. This morning the old mj is working cause of the fix i implemented. U must have some kind of technical background to work with this.
How can i have my caller id name show to my caller whn i call. It only show the phone number.
From what I have read on the website, just numbers are displayed for both incoming and out going caller ID.

If your Magic Jack is breaking up: This is cause by low resources. You can adjust your computer to devote more resources to background applications,(SEE MJ FAQs ON WEBSITE) but this slows down other applications. Usually, this issue is resolved by installing more RAM.

David, first check the MJ FAQs website. Your ISP may block the port used by MJ. Also check your firewall settings.

I installed my magic jack in a friend’s computer. Now I try to use it in my computer and I can’t. It is possible that during the initial installation I made a mistake in the spelling of my e-mail and now I can not use the magic jack anymore. Is it possible to restart my information or something like that using the billing information or shipping confirmation number, or any other confirmatory information? Please, I don’t want to loose my money and think that the customer service of Magic Jack can not guarantee a good service!

I have change the telephone wire, and USB WIRE, but still not work.
Thomas, check the port to see if it has power! I had that problem and when I check it there was no power, guess it malfunction. I got a separate Hub which I connect to one of the ports I was using and it work fine.

Everytime I reboot xp, the MagicJack starts with low screen resolution 680×480. I have to manual click on the Properties/Settings to bring it back to 1024×768.

I found MJ to be intentionaly difficult to contact. I purchased an additional year of time when I purchased the MJ but they’ve failed to provide me my service. Needless to say, given the very very poor quality of custumer service and actaul product, I would suggest that no one purchase the MJ. It’s a rip off, plain and simple.

My magicjack is working fine however the number must have belonged to someone else b4 me. I was able to change the 911 address however I have her on my voice mail and can not figure out how to change it to my own personal message. I had magic jack for 2 years and it hadnot worked .what kind of bogus device is this
just to let you know, I was satisfied with magic jack for a long time, but I also started having trouble with the magic jack and now I don’t even have a phone because your magic jack will not let my phone work. Thank goodness I only paid for one year at a time. So I’m only going to get stuck with 6months, instead of one year or five years. I used to tell people that the magic jack was a real gem, because It saved so much money and it was so easy to use, but I have changed my mind. I hope that people read this before their time of thirty days is up, so they don’t lose their money shirley
After almost a year my Magic Jack stopped working so I went out to wal mart and spent $40 for a new one and got on the internet to ask their idiot customer service people to activate the new MJ device and keep the same phone number I have had that all my friends know but those jerks at MJ said they could not give me a one year extension if I kept the same phone number with a new device.
I would not only have to pay the $40 for the new device but also $20 more for a year extension to keep my same phone number!!!!!!!!
Why? “Just not possible”
Can you please give me a phone number to call to speak to a real live breathing human being about this?

Tell me why then you cannot let me keep the same phone number and just activate the new device with a new years service?

This is the worst customer service imaginable! Of course you can do it. It’s not my fault you make poor quality devices that break down in the first year.

I just bought my Magicjack and cannot get it registered. Therefore it does not work at this time. I need someone to contact me and help me get it registered and working.
I OWN A MAGICJACK AND I RECENTLY PURCHASED ANOTHER ONE
AT RADIOSHACK, FOR A FRIEND IN IRELAND.
I HAD CALLED MAGICJACK TECH ASSISTANCE AND ASKED IF I SHOULD
SET IT UP HERE IN THE USA ON MY COMPUTER.I WAS ADVISED TO
SEND THE UNIT DERECTLY TO IRELAND AND MY FRIEND COULD SET
IT UP THERE. SO I SENT IT ON UNOPENED.WHEN HE STARTED TO SET IT UP, HE LEARNED THAT THE 911 EMEGENCY NUMBER IS REQUIRED, BUT IT CANNOT BE INSTALLED OUTSIDE OF THE USA.
THE NUMBER WOULD NOT INSTALL BECOUSE OF HIS IRISH ADDRESS
THE INSTALLATION WOULD NOT GO ANY FURTHER.
CAN THE 911 NUMBER BE DELETED?. WHAT IS YOUR SOLUTION.

I just got Window 7,,& MJ ‘s Number Pad just won’t come up. It worked on XP for over a year & I was very happy with MJ. Did everything they told me to do on Webside,still not working. ERROR, BROKEN STORAGE,,,is all I get.downloaded update too,,still nothing,,HELP
After 6 hours online with tech support…Still cant get Magic Jack to work on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit machine.For a brief time I got beyond the “splash screen” and got a “softphone screen” Had it working all by myself ( tech support gave up! ) for just minutes…then it quit again! MAYBE MJ will fix this problem….Can’t believe I’m the only person running Win Ultime 64bit with problems!!!!!
